The
strategic approach to Psychotherapy could be defined as the "Art"
of solving difficult human problems by means of (apparently) simple
solutions.
Such a Brief Therapy Model is the result of the evolution of the systemic
therapy towards Constructivism toghether with Ericksonian Hypnotherapy.
The strategic therapist, is neither a "consoler" or a "confessor",
nor a "friend you pay for" he's a "technician"
of brief therapy solutions of human disorders.
He completely assurres the responsability of intervention by means
of his "strategies" on the patient's perceiving-reactive
system to break his disfunctional rigidity; in such a wayto make him
become an elastic and functional modality of perception and reaction
towards "reality"; also capable in case, to adapt himself
functionally to successive problematic situations.
In this book we are explaining with any detail how by means of the
assumption proper of constructivism epistemology (that is "reality"
is the result of our obseving perspective, of our detenction instruments
and of our communication) we reach to keep a purely strategic approach
towards human problems.
The strategic-construstivistic model is presented by means of an explanation
in different stages of the therapy stated as previewed goaes, therapeutic
strategies and type of communication to be utilized , pointing out
the reed of the recourse to suggestion and to the strategic "beneficial
tricks", to avoid the resistance to change in the first steps
of therapy. As well as we state the need, in the further steps of
treatment, of cognitive refrarrings of the change achieved, to consolidate
the results and make the subject aware, indipendent and capable, thanks
to occurred strategic learning, to face autonomously new incidental
problems.
In addition to such an esplenation is presented a review of the usual
comunicative and therapeutic strategies of our approach, that is the
tecnique of the so called "hypnotherapy without trance".
The crucial point of the book is represented by a stage where the
reader will have the opportunity to embody himself in the concreteness
of the strategic approach to psychotherapy.
All this is represented by the precise explanation of 7 real cases
of treatment, reported by the complete transcription of the videorecorder
session, with exact indications relative to therapeutic manouvers
arried out and commentated on any session, and that will show the
great completly that is hidden behind a work sometimes upsetting in
its apparent "simplicity".
There is also an exposition of the evaluating data on efficacy and
effectiveness of our approach to therapy.
This evaluation executed on a number of about 200 treated patients,
show how this type of focussed and brief therapy leads to effective
and persisting positive results (efficacy: 83% positive outcomes)
in a percentage measures superior to other forms of psychotherapy:
and how such an efficacy is obtained in very short times (efficiency:
M 14 session) respect to usual times of psychotherapy.
The epilogue, concern the life philosophy and style of the person/strategic
therapist.
